Have you ever been deep sea fishing? The
water is of such blue just to see it is worth the price to ride out upon the
water itself. But if you like to catch fish, or that creature of the deep
well then you need to visit with our party boat friends on Galveston Island.
I have personally fished with each of these companies for many years. My own
friends go on these very boats annually and frequently. Gather your family
and friends and book a trip aboard your choice of boat. Each company runs
multiple boats and can get you on the water from the jetties for half day
trips, or you can even make the whole day run to that bluest of water. If
your feeling extra hungry for the sea, long range multi day trips are
available. I call them the Texas Tuna Trot. Take our personal advice and
book a trip with either of the two party boat companies below. The
experience will be one that you will remember and that you will want to
share and do again.
P.S. From the time we have spent on
these boats over the years our very best advice that we can give you
is to book the stern in advance. It is the best spot on the boat and it is
worth booking in advance and waiting for your turn to fish from the stern.

Captain Johnny
is the man that runs this crew of mates and he actually captains the boats
as well. Ms. Dorothy is the big friendly smile that will greet you when you
arrive for your trip. Remember those memories you make doing this? Captain
Johnny gave me one of the most memorable of all. I had two friends I fished
with all the time, Dennis Kligar and Blaine Brasseaux. Dennis was expecting
his and Donnas second child. This was to be the last offshore trip of the
season. After a day of standard offshore fare, Captain Johnny backed down
over a wreck on the last drop of the day. I still think he saved it special
for everyone. This hole was absolutely polluted with amberjack. Not just any
A.J. but great big monsters. These fish were trashing lines and tackle at
will. The Captains crew was outstanding in re rigging gaffing and baiting
anglers. At the end of the melee when Captain Johhny blew the whistle to
haul up, our personal tally was 17 Giant Amberjack. On the way home we sat
in the cabin soaking up the ac and tossing back something cold. Dennis being
in a special way was being treated to few extra cold beverages. Somewhere on
the way in Blaine started teasing him that someone was going to be at the
dock waiting for him because Donna was going to be delivering. Now I know
what your thinking, but true to fact Donna had gone into labor and sure
enough someone was waiting at the dock. Just as soon as that gangplank
hit Dennis was off and running for the hospital. Poor fellow did not even
get a chance to clean up or wash off. I cleaned and filleted all those fish.
I went to pick him up at the hospital about three in the morning. I smelled
him coming before I saw him. They had a wonderful little boy who followed in
his fathers footsteps and has served this country in the United States Navy
for the last ten or more years. God Bless you David and thank you for your

Galveston Party Boats
is the company I cut my teeth with for offshore fishing on Galveston Island.
Way back in the early 1980's, I caught my first snappers, king, ling,
triggers, shark, angel fish and more. I did not know about the stern, but I
learned quick. I made friends and kept going. With each trip I soon
started catching more and learning more. But the best thing I learned was
book in advance for the stern. Funny thing though, that big fish pot that
gets started on the boat along the way out to sea, I have never seen the
stern win the pot. The rails always seem to take that money away. Hey get in
on the pot when it comes around, its fun to drop down and see if your lucky
enough to win because you caught the big one. It will become one more great
memory to a wonderful offshore fishing trip. Say hello to

After
Hurricane Ike. As of
June 1st 2009 it has been less
than 9 months since this storm struck. It affected
every industry, aspect, and feature of the local Texas/Louisiana coastal
fishing industry. Slowly it is trying to come back on all levels.
But the fact remains it literally scattered family, friends and
customers, to the winds and for many their homes and businesses were
actually pushed out to sea. Like everyone who was effected it gives
us cause to write a new chapter, rebuild and build new. That is what
Flounder Pounder is doing too. The long term effects have lead us to
fulfilling a long time dream of having a on-line catalog and shop
site. This is it our new website under working construction.
